On the second of December 2023, the director Sylvain Bellenger presented Gian Maria Tosatti’s work Damasa to the press and public in the Caravaggio Room on the second floor of the Museo del Real Bosco di Capodimonte. The installation has been acquired for the collection with the support of the PAC 2022-2023 – Plan for Contemporary Art, promoted by the General Directorate for Contemporary Creativity of the Ministry of Culture. It is permanently installed in Room 82 of the Reggia.
The presentation was attended by Gian Maria Tosatti, Sylvain Bellenger, the project’s curator, Angela Tecce, President of the Fondazione Donnaregina per le Arti Contemporanee – Madre Museum in Naples, Francesca Gallo from the Lia Rumma Gallery, and Luciana Berti, the museum’s assistant director. During the presentation of Damasa, a work dedicated to Anna Maria Ortese, two sculptures were exhibited at the entrance to the room: Levriera che allatta i cagnolini (1839) and Gesù Nazareno (before 1857). These sculptures are linked to the production of Giuseppe Vaccà, the maternal grandfather of the Neapolitan writer who is often evoked in her pages.
